If you do not eat meat you need alternate sources of protein. A healthy vegetarian diet often times gives you more access to protein than you may realize, but little tricks like this one help give that little extra that will insure you will get more than enough protein into your diet.And not only is this a good protein supplement solution for vegetarians, it is also beneficial for anyone who is active in cardio and/or weight lifting as well.
Suggested Hardware
Immersion (Stick) Blender or regular blenderIngredient List
Soy or Whey protein powder | Soy or Rice Milk | A healthy peanut butter option (organic and natural if possible) | Flaxseed oil (preferably with DHA enhancement) | Naysoya Vanilla Silken Creations - Link | Soy Ice Cream or Low fat Frozen YogurtProcess
- Start with adding 1 - 2 scoops of protein mix into mixer
- Add 1 scoop of peanut butter
- Pour approximately 2 - 3 cups of milk over the mixture
- Add 2 teaspoons of flaxseed oil
- You can approximate the amount of vanilla silken to taste. The more you add the more vanilla you will taste
- 2 scoops of ice cream (this will add texture)
You are now ready to blend the mixture with your stick blender or regular blender. For further protein you can add a also eat a protein bar with your drink.
** In a future article I will be discussing the difference between soy and when protein as well as soy and rice milk. I will also discuss the importance of DHA in your omega 3 oil as well
