15 - 20 minutes for prep, 45 minutes for baking.

Suggested Hardware

9x13 baking dish (or something comparable)

Ingredient List

6 apples cut into chunks, strips, or a mix of both | Raisins - 1 - 2 cups | Nutmeg - ½ tsp | Cinnamon - 2 tablespoons (more if desired) Oats - 2 cups | Ground Flaxseed - ½ cup | Sliced Almonds - 1 cup | Sunflower seeds - ½ cup | Agave nectar - ½ cup | Maple syrup - ½ cup | Vegetable oil (or canola) - ½ cup

Optional - 1 cup dried cranberries | ¼ wheat germ

Process

Tip: The best way to go about putting this together is to use prep bowls to measure out each of the ingredients. Once you do this, all you have to is add each ingredient into the mixing bowl as you need it.

There are two different ways to prepare this recipe:

Method 1 - Two Layer Method

The first is the two layer method. There is the apple/raisin layer, and there is the the oatmeal crisp topping. In order to prepare this for the oven, you will want to prep the layers individually in separate mixing bowls.

Apple Mixture

  • In a fairly large mixing bowl, mix your apples, raisins, (cranberries if used), nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  • Once this is mixed, you can spread it in an even layer on the bottom of your baking dish. You could spray a little olive oil on the bottom but it is really not needed since the "wet" part is on the bottom.

Dry Oat Mixture

  • In another mixing bowl, mix your oats, almonds, sunflower seeds, agave, vegetable oil, and cinnamon (if desired).
  • Once this is mixed, you can spread the mixture over the top of the apples covering them completely.

Method 2 - Single Mixture Method

The other method, simply enough, is mixing all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and placing them in your baking pan mixed together.

Baking (same for both methods)

Place in a 350° preheated oven, bake for 1 hour.
